The Very Worst Hotels in Las Vegas

These are the worst hotels in Las Vegas per reviews and visits in the past. While there are a lot of great places to stay, these are some of the ones that you might want to avoid.

The Bellagio. The Venetian. The MGM Grand. We know about the best hotels in all of Las Vegas. But which hotels are the complete opposite? Which are the hotels that you definitely would not want to stay at on your next trip?

With all due respect to online casinos, millions of people flock to Las Vegas each year to experience the glitz and glamor that can only be offered on the floor of a Sin City casino. The lights, the sounds, and the ambiance are unmatched.

While staying in Las Vegas, there are plenty of great places to stay like the New Hard Rock Hotel Las Vegas. Having said that, not every hotel in Las Vegas is worth looking into. As a matter of fact, these hotels are among the very worst you will find in the city.

The Luxor

It is easy to see the appeal of the Luxor. After all, it is one of the tallest pyramids in the world. But once you get inside the doors, the appeal falls away and it becomes easy to see why it is on this list.

The hotel has fallen behind the times and hasn’t done much in the way of upgrades to keep up. You can find plenty of reviews with literal damage done in the hallway, either from water or pieces of the wall pulled away. The cleanliness of the rooms is another subject entirely. Despite the curb appeal, it is better to stay somewhere else.

The STRAT Hotel, Casino & SkyPod

Where to begin on why this hotel makes the list? The amenities are there but you can expect to be nickel-and-dimed for each of them. Reservations are unreliable, rooms are dirty, and the smell. Oh no, the smell.

There are plenty of activities to take part in but it seems that most of the in-house rides are down for maintenance. The pool is often closed. There have even been cases of insect bites from sleeping in the hotel beds. Stay away at all costs.

Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino

The Rio used to be the home of the King of Poker Games, the World Series of Poker. It should be a warning that those professional players touted the Rio as being the worst hotel in all of Las Vegas.

A complete lack of cleanliness, bedbugs, an inconvenient location, and even a number of high-profile robberies are just a few of the claims against the Rio. The service, cleanliness, hospitality, restaurants, and gambling have all gone downhill, creating one of the worst stays in the legendary city.

Circus Circus

The reputation of Circus Circus isn’t one that came out of nowhere. With an average Yelp rating of just 2.1 out of 5, it has been one of the worst hotels in Vegas for some time. Unfortunately, the bedbugs are just the beginning of the problems.

Far to the north end of the strip, everything about this hotel is wrong. Some of the rooms even have old CRT televisions! Roaches, elevators that don’t work, grime and trash everywhere to be found, and a million other stories litter reviews of Circus Circus. The stories about Manor Motor Lodge, the worst-rated room on the Strip, should be enough of a warning.

Conclusion

There are plenty of great places to stay in Las Vegas. Do your homework ahead of time and perhaps you can avoid an experience at one of the worst hotels in the city. This list should be a good starting point for where not to go.
