Huawei, a China-based electronics company, has announced that Huawei AppGallery, its Android application store, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Emirates Esports Federation (EESF).

A Memorandum of Understanding is a non-binding agreement that’s reached between two parties that outlines how they’ll work together to achieve a common goal.

This comes after NODWIN Gaming acquired AFK Gaming earlier this month.

The Goal They Share

According to a press release, the Emirates Esports Federation, which is based in the United Arab Emirates, will work with Huawei AppGallery to drive “innovation and growth” in esports and mobile gameplay in the region.

One area of emphasis is helping local talent find new opportunities. This includes developers and gamers. Thus, Huawei and EESF will collaborate to put together tournaments and other events.

The EESF will provide endorsements from the government and professional players to support and elevate the AppGallery Gamers Cup tournament within the United Arab Emirates.

Background on the Deal

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by His Highness Sheikh Sultan Bin Khalifa Bin Sultan Bin Shakhboot Al Nahyan, the EESF President, and the Managing Director of Huawei Consumer Business Group, Middle East and Africa Eco-Development and Operation, William Hu.

No details concerning finances have been reported.

William Hu Comments

In the press release, Hu released a statement regarding the collaboration, stating the following:

“Collaborating with the Emirates Esports Federation represents a major step forward in realizing our vision for the future of esports and mobile gaming.

“Together, we are creating a platform that not only drives innovation but also fosters an environment where gamers and developers can thrive. The UAE’s rapidly evolving gaming ecosystem makes it an ideal hub for shaping the future of esports.”
