Macko Esports has announced it’s going on hiatus and won’t be participating in League of Legends competitions.

Antonio Todisco, Macko's CEO, released a statement on X stating that the organization has dealt with “significant challenges” over the past five years.

This comes after Noctem Esports shuttered earlier this month.

Todisco Statement

The statement on X from Todisco was quite lengthy, reading the following:

“As the CEO of Macko Entertainment Srl and Founder of Macko Esports, I would like to express our gratitude to PG Esports and Riot Ita for their collaboration over the past years. However, it is with regret that I announce that, after numerous frictions, we find ourselves in the position of having to suspend our partnership.

Throughout this five-year collaboration, we have encountered significant challenges in achieving the goals we set together and in receiving the necessary support in such a competitive industry. Unfortunately, the initial expectations were not met, nor were the agreements and promises made by the parties. As of today, after several shortcomings and a lack of willingness to collaborate, we realize that we are forced to take a different path.

As a result, we are announcing a hiatus from the competitive League of Legends scene. This will allow us to reassess our strategies and explore opportunities that offer better prospects for the future. However, we want to emphasize that our passion and commitment to investing in League of Legends remain unchanged. It is essential for us that our community understands we are not stepping away but preparing to return stronger when conditions become favorable for the growth of a sustainable system—one that prioritizes the community and respects all involved parties.

We are particularly saddened by the impact this situation will have on our players. We understand the challenges they will face, and we are committed to supporting them in finding new opportunities that recognize their talent and dedication.

We are determined to explore new collaboration opportunities that will allow us to grow and progress on our journey, ensuring that our fans always enjoy the best possible experiences. We thank all those who have been part of this journey over the years, and we look forward with a clear goal: to build a stronger and more fulfilling future.”

Macko Drops Out of LIT

Before this announcement from Todisco, Macko was preparing for the LIT 2025 Sprint Split. The sudden hiatus was a shock to the players.

“Yesterday there was no doubt that we were gonna be part of the upcoming split and still practised for it (which was supposed to start today). Sadly it’s not going to be the case. Thanks Macko Esports, for not being just another team but a place where I felt like ‘home’ for the past year,” Sebastian ‘Color‘ Czyżyk, of Macko said.

LIT also released a statement regarding the hiatus.

“After memorable seasons of competition, crowned with seven national titles and numerous achievements, the path of the Macko Esports NEL League of Legends Italian Tournament (LIT) comes to an end,” they started.

“We want to thank all the players, staff and collaborators who have contributed over the years, leaving an indelible mark on the competition,” LIT finished.

Reflecting on Macko in LoL Esports

Macko Esports is considered one of the top Italian teams. It was established in 2018 and merged with Racoon Esports in 2022.
