Key Takeaways

  • Noctem Esports has shut down
  • It participated in Apex Legends and Call of Duty leagues over the last two years
  • The shutdown comes after Noctem Esports was unable to secure a sponsor for Apex Champs

Noctem Esports, a United Kingdom organization, announced on X that it’s closing its doors “with immediate effect.”

Its most current team is looking for new teams to sign with.

Noctem Esports has been active over the last two years, competing in Call of Duty and Apex Legends leagues.

This comes after Ghost Gaming returned in late January with a women's roster for Counter-Strike.

Noctem Esports Announcement

As mentioned, Noctem Esports announced the closure of X.

The graphic, in bold, big text, starts with “The End” and “Noctem to Close Down.”

Then, the statement reads:

“A sad day today, as we’ve made the incredibly difficult decision to cease Noctem’s operations with immediate effect…”

“For two years, we gave everything to build something special and to take the brand to where we needed and wanted it to be.”

“Unfortunately, we couldn’t make that happen.”

“But what a ride it’s been.”

“4 World Finals appearances.”

“4 Esports.”

“Millions of views.”

“An incredible and dedicated content team.”

“Thank you to every player, creator, staff member, and fan who supported us along the way.”

“None of this would have been possible without you.”

“It’s been one hell of a journey—and maybe one day, we’ll be back.”

Esports Community Support

With the news of Noctem shutting down, prominent figures in the esports community came out with support for the organization.

“Can’t believe this, thought you’d made some huge moves over the last two years as well. Wish all the best for everyone who was involved,” said Fnatic’s Marco Galluzo.

“Really sorry to hear that, the passion, time and effort @Stovellj put in was nothing short of incredible. An esports organisation built from the heart, never heard anyone say a bad word about you guys. I’m sure you’ll smash whatever your next chapter in life is @Stovellj,” wrote Amir Nouhas, the owner of The Atlas Tigers esports organization.

Financial Issues in 2025?

Noctem led off 2025 in a bad way after it was unable to secure a sponsor for Apex Champs.

“Apex Champs is just over a week away,” Stovell said on X at the time, “and we’ve had it confirmed our last sponsor opportunity isn’t happening. Esports is hard, we’ve had a lot fall through in the last five months, and although I’m always optimistic – It’s been a challenge recently.”

Due to challenges that followed, Noctem was forced to let go of its Apex Legends team.

Noctem was established in 2023 by Jack Stovell, a former FIFA competitor.

Noctem placed 18th and earned $200,000 in prize money at the Apex Legends Global Series 2024 Championship.
