Key Takeaways

  • The fee changes will affect all MGM Resorts properties in Las Vegas
  • The fee changes took effect on December 4th at 10.00 am
  • MGM Resorts states the fee changes are based on nationwide marketplace standards

MGM Resorts International, the largest casino operator in Las Vegas, has increased resort and parking fees in all its Strip properties. The changes, set to affect thousands of visitors, went up yesterday, December 4th, at 10.00 am.

This marks the second time the operator has raised fees in its resorts this year. The move is speculated to help MGM bump up its gambling revenue margins after a negative performance in the last four months. The operator explained that it would “increase the fee schedules for the two charges at all its properties on and along the resort corridor.” It added that the increases “are based on local and nationwide marketplace standards.”

Resort Fee Changes

MGM Resorts International detailed the different adjustments that now apply to its resorts. Visitors at the Bellagio, Cosmopolitan, Vdara, and Aria will face a $5 fee increase from $50 to $55. The MGM Grand, Delano, Nomad, The Signature, Mandalay Bay, Park MGM, and Nomad will increase their fees to $50, marking a $5 - $8 increase. Excalibur, Luxor, and New York-New York will raise their fees to $45, representing an increase of $8 for the first two and $3 for New York-New York.

Resort fees cover various amenities, including phone calls (local and domestic long-distance), fitness center access, in-room Wi-Fi, and boarding pass printing. MGM argues that the new prices are based on evolving offerings and competition with local and international resorts.

Parking Fee Changes

The levy adjustments also apply to parking fees, with self-park visitors expected to pay $20 on weekdays (Monday – Thursday), a $2 increase from $18. The cost will increase from $23 to $25 on Weekends (Friday – Sunday). Resort guests will pay a standard fee of $20 on all days, a $2 rise from the initial $18. The adjustments also extend to valet fees for all guests, who are now expected to pay a flat rate of $40. Previously, the rate varied between $25 and $40 depending on the MGM property and day of the week.

Remaining Privileges

Despite the fee hikes, MGM Resorts has left some visitor segments untouched. MGM Rewards members at the Pearl level and higher will retain the complimentary privilege of free self-parking, while Gold tier members and above will still enjoy free valet parking.

The MGM Rewards Military & Veterans Program (MVP) will also allow all U.S. military personnel (active and veterans) and their spouses to park free of charge. Nevada residents with a valid state-issued ID can also enjoy free parking for up to three hours at all the operator’s properties.
