Key Takeaways

  • The unnamed suspect committed suicide in nearby Fresno before being apprehended
  • The victim is an unnamed woman in her 20s
  • The victim was shot at around 7 p.m. in Parking Lot No. 3 at Tachi Palace Casino Resort and needed to be airlifted

A man who allegedly shot a woman at California’s Tachi Palace Casino Resort on Friday night shot himself hours later and died from those wounds, according to Kings County Sheriff’s Office.

The suspect remains unnamed. He fled from the tribal gaming property after shooting the woman. He was found in a car in Fresno, California, roughly 40 miles away from the site.

This is one of the latest California casino-related crimes since a man was charged with robbery, assault, and more from an incident at Hustler Casino.

Shot Himself Before Being Apprehended

After being located in a car in Fresno, police attempted to apprehend the suspect. The suspect continued driving until he reached the intersection of Hamilton and Cedar Avenue. Before the police were able to get him, he shot himself.

He was then rushed to a nearby hospital and declared dead after treatment.

From there, he’ll have an autopsy to confirm the matter of death. His identity will also be released.

Police seized the firearm used, and no one else was hurt.

Woman Rushed to Hospital By Aircraft

The woman who was shot by the suspect who committed suicide needed a hospital. Her injuries were so severe that they required her to be airlifted to an unknown hospital.

She was shot around 7 p.m. in Parking Lot No. 3 at Tachi Palace Casino Resort on Friday night.

Like the suspect, the victim’s name hasn’t been released. The only information we know is that she’s in her 20s.

According to Tachi Palace Casino Resort, the two were in an argument that escalated, leading to the shooting.

“There was a domestic dispute between two individuals that resulted in one individual sustaining a gunshot wound,” the casino said in the statement.

She was the only one injured in this exchange.

“The scene is secure, and the situation is under control,” the statement continued.

As of Friday night, all operations at Tachi Palace Resort Casino were normal, and the King County Sheriff’s office continues to investigate.
