Edward L. Taylor, 33, was responsible for the crime. He is from Bridgeport, Connecticut, and was convicted in a criminal trial at New London Superior Court in the state. 

He was found guilty of first-degree robbery, second-degree robbery, and first-degree larceny.

Taylor will be officially sentenced on October 22, 2024. 

Circumstances of the Case

This guilty verdict stems from an incident on June 7, 2022. The Mohegan Sun Casino Tribal Police Department received a 911 call that reported an individual being robbed at a nearby Mobil station. 

The station was located on Mohegan Sun Boulevard. Two men got out of a car with a knife and stole $55,000 from the victim. The perpetrators stole the vehicle, and during the act of taking it, the victim held onto the car and was dragged several yards, sustaining minor injuries.

In addition to this conviction, a man was charged in California after allegedly kidnapping a woman at the Tachi Palace Casino Resort in the state. She was last seen getting into her car with a man on the property. 

The victim of the crime was an elderly woman. She was eventually found in Paso Robles, 75 miles from the casino.

Charged for the crime was Dustin Lemaster, 33. He was arrested and charged with kidnapping, extortion, and elder abuse. His bail was set at $240k.
