The Person Assaulted
Upon approaching the unarmed man, the teens asked the guy to turn over his possessions. In addition to taking the possessions, they assaulted him before fleeing from the scene.
There’s no information on what items were stolen and nothing on his injuries.
The police were called to the scene at around 8 p.m. that Friday night. The Tropicana Casino guards provided Atlantic City police with images and surveillance footage of the suspects.
The Teens Attempted to Flee But Were Caught
The police managed to subdue them not far from the casino. Tropicana Casino is located on the Boardwalk.
Officers William Harned and Julian Monsalve spotted three teens on South Texas Avenue. The teens attempted to flee, but the police managed to catch them.
The fourth teen was caught on Atlantic Avenue, and the fifth on Arctic Avenue. The fifth teen tried to run but was also caught.
The Police Discovered a Large Knife
The suspects attempted to get rid of a bag after seeing the police.
The police retrieved the gag and found a large knife inside. Atlantic City Department Captain Kevin Fair said it was used in the robbery.
The items from the victim were also found.
According to WPG Talk Radio, four boys were 14, and one was 15. They were charged with robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, simple assault, terroristic threats, theft, obstruction of justice, and conspiracy.
Each teen resides in Atlantic City, and the cases will be heard in New Jersey juvenile courts.
There’s no indication if the suspect was targeted or random.
