Details of the Case
This case dates back to Aug. 2023. Benson pleaded not guilty to two counts of deliberate homicide and use of a weapon in a violent crime.
However, the killings were seen by eyewitnesses and security footage.
In the footage, the Bensons are seen sitting together at a table inside Four Aces.
During the time there, Mr. Benson left to go outside. While out there, he grabbed a gun from his Chevrolet Tahoe and returned to his seat.
Then, at 9:19 pm local time, he reached into his waistband, pulled out a gun, shot his wife in the head, turned, shot Gardner once, who was fleeing for the door, shot his wife again, and then fired three shots into Gardner.
The additional shots set off the fire alarm. Mr. Benson left in his vehicle and was arrested on the highway. He had a flat tire.
During the trial, Mr. Benson claimed to have no recollection of the incident and blamed his wife.
Insane Testimony
“At trial, the state made Jenny seem like an angel, a person with no flaws. They were wrong,” Benson said, as reported by NBC Montana. “Since my arrest, through the discovery process, it shows another side of my wife of 22 years.”
During his testimony, the prosecution objected to Benson’s description of his wife, which he dubbed her as a “liar and cheater.”
“I, too, lost my best friend that night, my best friend and the love of my life,” he claimed.
“To my friends and family, thank you for your support,” he continued. “To my children, I love you more than life itself.”
Mr. Benson’s daughter, Paige Benson, provided a comment calling her dad a “narcissistic person” and said she didn’t “feel safe with him in the world.”
The father of Jenny Benson said he hoped Mr. Benson would have a miserable life in prison.
