A 27-year-old woman is fighting for her life after being shot in the neck in the parking garage of the Ameristar Casino in St. Charles, Missouri. The victim’s name hasn’t been released, and she required surgery after the shooting, per KTVI.

According to police, she was shot in the shoulder, and there was an exit wound through her neck.

This shooting comes a few weeks after a teenage woman was sentenced for a murder at the Luxor in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The Perpetrator was the Victim's Boyfriend

The unnamed woman identified the shooter as Calvin Koong, 50, of St. Louis. Koong is the unnamed victim’s boyfriend.

The shooting happened around 2:30 in the morning on Saturday, and police were quickly dispatched to the scene.

Koong was arrested and charged with first-degree domestic assault, first-degree kidnapping, and armed criminal action.

His bond was set to $500k.

Woman Collapsed in Parking Garage After Shooting

The woman was shot on the second floor of the parking garage. According to surveillance footage, the victim was inside a car that Koong owns, as reported by KSDK out of Missouri.

The victim was in the driver’s seat of the car, and the door was open. She tried to get out of the car before Koong pushed her back into the car, and a struggle ensued.

She did manage to escape the car, but she fell to the pavement after suffering the gunshot wound.

Thankfully, fellow casino-goers came to her assistance and contacted the police.

Koong took off but could not leave due to a concrete barrier in the garage.

Koong Apprehended and Confessed

A security guard at Ameristar spotted Koong and apprehended him. Koong quickly admitted to the shooting, saying, “I shot her. I shot her.” to police.

Police were able to find the firearm in the car, and the case has been officially turned over to prosecutors. Koong will face jail time if sentenced.

No motive has been released, and there’s no update on her status as of Saturday evening.

Koong could face increase charges if she succumbs to her injuries.
