Key Takeaways

  • DraftKings+ will offer customers boosted odds on parlays
  • The subscription will cost $20/month
  • No other US sportsbook provides a similar service

DraftKings is shaking up the US sports betting industry.

The operator has launched DraftKings Sportsbook+ in New York this week. The new subscription service allows bettors to receive stepped-up parlay odds, leading to larger payouts. Users can sign up for $20 per month to have the odds on their app automatically boosted.

No other US sportsbook offers services like DraftKings+, which the operators hope will help lure customers away from rivals like FanDuel.

Parlay Boosts Determined by Legs

DraftKings+ offers odds boosts on all parlays, but the rate changes based on the number of legs. A simple two-leg parlay will have its odds boosted by 10%; adding one more leg will double to 20%. The biggest boost you can get is 100%, but that is only for parlays with 11+ legs.

In order to qualify for the boost, each leg of a parlay must have odds greater than -500.

Roll Out Will be Slow

DraftKings has been eager to launch the new subscription service, but it won’t be rushing. As of now, the service is only available in New York. The operator is only offering the service to select bettors in the market, though the qualifications for that have not been shared.

The hope is that the operator can work the bugs out of the new service before launching across the US. However, the launch means competitors will be looking to create rival services quickly. The sports betting industry remains hyper-competitive, but a service like DraftKings+ can help the operator stand out from the rest.

Time will tell if the threat of rival services will push DraftKings to launch nationwide sooner than expected.

Parlays Remain Popular in the US

As sports betting continues to expand in the US, so does the popularity of parlays. Many casual bettors have taken advantage of the many parlay promotions offered in hopes of hitting the big payout. The possibility to bet a small amount to win big appeals to many, leading DraftKings to create its new subscription service.

Sportsbooks also love parlays. While bettors often wager less, the odds of winning skyrocket each time you add a leg. This means most parlays lose, making it a big money maker for operators. While DraftKings+ will give the potential for even more winnings, the loss rate and subscription cost will lead to even more revenue for the sportsbook.
