Maintained Excellence in a Cut-Throat Category
Las Vegas Sands and Sands China were the only companies out of 18 to secure a position on DJSI World this year. Sands is also the only entity in the Casino and Gaming category participating on DJSI North America, while Sands China is one of two in the Casino and Gaming category included on the DJSI Asia Pacific index.
DJSI World undertakes a rigorous selection process through the Corporate Sustainability Assessment when choosing participants. The index represents the leading 10% of the largest 2,500 companies listed on the S&P Global Broad Market Index (BMI). These companies are determined based on long-term economic, environmental, and social standards.
Sands President and Chief Operating Officer Patrick Dumont applauded the operator’s continued efforts, stating, “Our recognition on this premier global sustainability benchmark, following our recent inclusion as one of Newsweek’s America’s Most Responsible Companies, underscores the impact of our corporate responsibility initiatives and ESG leadership.”
Setting the Bar High
Las Vegas Sands applies industry benchmarks like S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment to establish corporate responsibility initiatives and ESG targets. These efforts have earned the company recognition through DJSI and other prestigious rankings.
Sands has three main pillars driving its corporate responsibility during its 2021-2025 ESG reporting cycle – People, Communities, and Planet. The casino operator will update its 2024 progress in its following ESG report to be released in Spring 2025.
