Key Takeaways

  • The Laurus is Marriot’s first Luxury Collection property in Singapore
  • It will include 183 suits costing $1,200+ nightly rates
  • Luxury amenities include a lagoon pool, spa, and fusion dining

Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) is set to unveil The Laurus in the third quarter of 2025, marking Marriot International’s inaugural The Luxury Collection property in Singapore. Designed to embody opulence and cultural immersion, the all-suite resort aligns with the brand’s philosophy of region-specific experience that reflects local heritage.

With a name that hints at laurel wreaths as a symbol of triumph, The Laurus aims to elevate Singapore’s luxury hospitality landscape by blending avant-garde design with nods to Southeast Asian traditions. It joins Marriott’s portfolio of elite properties, including The Ritz-Carlton and St. Regis, cementing RWS’s position as a global leisure destination.

A Blend of Tropical Grandeur with Colonial Flair

Bangkok-based P49 Deesign—the studio behind JW Marriott Hangzhou and Six Senses Laamu—has crafted the upcoming The Laurus as a sanctuary of tropical-colonial fusion. The five-story property, nestled within Singapore’s lush green landscapes, will house 183 suites ranging from 72 sq m Deluxe Suites to Presidential Suites. They’ll all feature monochromatic interiors, custom furnishings, and luxury bedding that “reflect timeless sophistication,” per RWS.

More Amenities

Industry analysts anticipate nightly rates to start at $1,200, positioning it among Asia’s premium offerings. The property’s amenities include a spa, a lagoon-style pool, and an all-day dining venue fusing Peranakan and Mediterranean cuisines. Catering to affluent travelers and high-net-worth event planners, The Laurus will also feature intimate spaces to host weddings, corporate retreats, and cultural soirees. The design contrasts Singapore’s lush greenery with colonial-era architectural themes, creating a serene yet stately ambiance.

An Anchor for Transformation

The Laurus, which will replace the former Hard Rock Hotel, is the flagship project of Genting Singapore’s $6.8 billion “RWS” revitalization plan meant to curate luxury experiences. Announced in November 2024, the overhaul aims to solidify RWS’s global standing amid intensifying tourism competition in the Asian Pacific, such as Thailand’s IR plan.

RWS is prioritizing non-gaming attractions like Minion Land (launched in February 2024) and the upcoming Singapore Oceanarium—a sprawling marine facility triple the size of the current S.E.A aquarium, slated for a mid-2025 opening. By 2030, the resort will unveil a waterfront property featuring two luxury hotels (adding 700 rooms), an 88-meter light sculpture, and a walking mountain trail showcasing Sentosa’s waterfront.

RWS CEO Tan Hee Teck underscored high expectations for the transformational expansion plans, stating, “We are thrilled to invite guests to immerse themselves in Singapore’s rich heritage, reconnect with the captivating beauty of Sentosa’s lush flora and fauna while experiencing RWS’ hallmark hospitality, defined by unparalleled sophistication, outstanding quality and innovation.”
